Depp's performance as Bulger is as strong, and as energized, as anything he's done on screen for years.. This vibrant film is a bit of a mess, but it's a beautiful one.. The movie is overly ambitious but never dull, and the ensemble cast is fun to watch.. "Bridge of Spies" isn't conventionally exciting, and isn't intended to be.
